On June 28, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, addressed an official letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. António Guterres, and the President of the UN Security Council, H.E. Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, to strongly condemn the military aggression carried out by the Israeli regime and supported by the United States against Iranian territory from June 13 to June 24, 2025. The letter denounces deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, hospitals, energy installations, and IAEA-monitored nuclear facilities in Qom, Arak, Natanz, and Isfahan, which represent a grave violation of international law, the UN Charter, and various human rights and humanitarian treaties. Iran emphasizes that these acts constitute an illegal use of force and a breach of fundamental international norms, including sovereignty, non-intervention, and the right to self-determination. The Foreign Minister calls upon the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its primary responsibility under the Charter to uphold international peace and security. Iran urges the Council to formally recognize Israel and the United States as aggressors, hold them accountable, and ensure compensation and non-repetition. The letter concludes with a warning that tolerating such violations undermines the rule of law, weakens the UN system, and sets a dangerous precedent for global security.
