Press Statement by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On the occasion of

“Cowardly assassination of Iranian scientist”

 

 

 

The cowardly assassination of the senior Iranian scientist, Martyr Prof Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and murdering some ordinary Iranian people are criminal terrorist action undoubtedly violating of the UN charter, international law, international human rights and internationally recognized norms and procedures and endangering peace and security.

 

It's noteworthy to remind that professor Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was a prominent scientist who dedicated himself to the promotion of high tech industries in Iran. He has been carrying out an underscoring role in the fight against the coronavirus, the most recent example of which is the development of the first indigenous Covid-19 test kit and vaccine, which is a great contribution to our national efforts in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic and production of its vaccine at a time when Iran is under toughest, illegal and inhumane unilateral sanctions imposed by the regime of the United States.

 

There have been clear indications of the Israeli involvement in this extremely cowardly assassination. The Zionist regime and its allies must fully stand accountable for the unavoidable legal consequences of this terrorist act. We generally believe that this heinous act of terror has been carried out within the framework of a chain of the terrorist actions previously committed by the Zionist regime, in which a number of Iranian scientific elites have been terrorized. This regime has a long history of terrorist acts in the world. 

 

This act of terror well indicated that adversaries of diplomacy are in an extremely chaotic situation and intend to create and extend chaos and turbulence all over the region, thus endangering world peace and security. A shared goal of American /Israeli Hawks and their regional partners is to create desirable conditions to achieve their illegitimate objectives.

 

It is a great mistake for the enemies to miscalculate that they can prevent, through adventurous and inhuman activities, the Iranian nation from the path of knowledge and advancement and deprive them of their legitimate rights.

 

The  Islamic Republic of  Iran which has always been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism stresses on her legitimate right to take all necessary measures to respond and to make the perpetrators and commanders of this atrocious terrorist action accountable and bringing them to justice.

 

We strongly urge all members of the international community particularly the European countries to explicitly condemn this act of terror and take a fair and appropriate position; abandoning the policy of double standards regarding violation of human rights and terrorist actions.
